Key Policy Points
Prohibited Use in Certifications:
IYS (schools) are not allowed to include the IYT logo on any certification documents (e.g., diplomas, certificates of completion, or teaching credentials).
Certifications should reflect the educational achievement of the student or teacher, not marketing or promotional branding.
Permitted Use for Marketing:
The IYT logo may only be used for marketing, promotional, or outreach purposes (e.g., websites, social media, brochures, or advertisements).
This ensures the logo serves its intended role as a branding tool to attract students or promote programs.
IYO-certified schools are strictly prohibited from incorporating IYO credentials—including but not limited to names, logos, and any IYO-related information—in any published materials, such as books or other educational content. Furthermore, these schools must refrain from utilizing IYO telephone numbers in all forms of documentation, marketing materials, brochures, templates, or any personal banking and financial transactions.
Engaging in these practices not only constitutes a misuse of IYO credentials but also represents a potential liability for both the school and IYO. Should we identify any instances of such misconduct, we reserve the right to revoke the IYO certification of the offending school and pursue legal action to address the violation. It is imperative that all IYO-certified schools adhere to these guidelines to maintain the integrity and reputation of the IYO certification.IYO-certified schools should not include IYO credentials (Names, logos, and IYO information) in their published books.
The IYO certified schools should not use the IYO phone numbers in any of their documents, marketing materials, brochures, templates, in personal banking or in any financial transactions, with the banking, which is liability and misusing of IYO credentials, If we find such kind activity done of misconduct done, we will terminate such kind of IYO certified school and will take legal action against them.
Why This Policy Matters
Avoid Confusion: Using the IYT logo on certifications might imply an endorsement or affiliation that isn’t intended, potentially misleading students or employers.
Brand Integrity: Each entity (IYO, IYS, IYT) has a distinct role. Misuse of logos could blur these distinctions and weaken the brand’s credibility.
Legal Compliance: Unauthorized use of logos could lead to trademark or copyright issues if not properly governed.
Professional Standards: Certifications should focus on the qualification earned, not promotional material.
Guidelines for Compliance
For IYS (Schools):
On Certifications: Use only the IYS logo or the IYO logo (if authorized) to denote the issuing institution.
On Marketing Materials: Use the IYT logo only if explicitly permitted by IYO/IYT for promotional purposes (e.g., "Trained under IYT-certified instructors").
Always Check: Verify with IYO/IYT for specific usage guidelines, as policies may evolve.
For IYT (Teachers/Trainers):
Use the IYT logo in personal marketing (e.g., resumes, websites, social media) to highlight your certification.
Avoid using the logo on third-party certificates or documents unless authorized.

Student Notification and Directory Removal: The follow-up team will contact the registered IYT students directly to inform them of the termination of their certification. Consequently, the students' names will be permanently removed from the IYO database, including the official IYT directory page, and they will be deleted from the corresponding IYO-certified school's directory page.

Clause Amendment: Student Name Correction and Re-issuance Policy
1. Registration Name Alignment
It is the responsibility of the IYO Certified School to ensure that all International Yoga Teacher (IYT) student names are submitted exactly as they appear on their government-issued identity proof.
2. Name Change Protocol & Documentation
If a student requires a name change or correction on their IYO certification after the initial registration process has been initiated or completed, the following official documents must be submitted to the IYO administration:
A valid copy of the updated Aadhaar Card reflecting the corrected/new name.
A valid copy of the updated PAN Card reflecting the corrected/new name.

IYO® School Certification: Eligibility & Documentation: To maintain the quality and experience level of our network, IYO® strictly certifies only those schools and studios that have been operational for a minimum of 1.5 years.
Applicants must validate their operational history by attaching one of the following proofs to their application form:

1. Social Media Verification
A link or screenshot of a social media post (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) published by your studio.
Requirement: The post date must be at least 1.5 years old.
2. Lease/Rental Documentation
A copy of the signed rental or lease agreement for the studio premises.
Requirement: The agreement start date must reflect a duration of 1.5 years or more.
3. Official Registration Certificates
A copy of a government-issued registration document.
Examples: Trademark certificate, Gumasta license, or Business Registration certificate.
Requirement: The "Date of Establishment" or "Valid From" date must be at least 1.5 years old.
IYO® has a legal-compliance-based registration process. IYO® acts primarily as an independent registration and certification body that standardises certification levels (such as IYT International Yoga Teacher 100hrs, 200hrs, 500hrs, and 80+ Yoga certification courses) rather than conducting an extensive pre-approval audit of your specific daily training content.
No extensive evaluation of course materials or day-to-day curriculum maps is required to get registered. The primary documentation required by IYO® focuses on the students' end during Phase 2 (verifying their completed hours and passing their assessments to issue their IYT® credentials) rather than requiring the school to submit proprietary textbooks or lesson plans for an academic review.
Your training program, materials, and internal school exams can remain entirely in Regional language. IYO® operates globally across 195 countries and respects local training structures. The only part that needs to align with IYO® is matching the required training-hour designations (e.g., an IYT-International Yoga Teacher 200-hour program) so that the correct tier of international certification can be requested and issued.
You can absolutely continue teaching your own program. Your school receives IYS® recognition by committing to standard professional training blocks (such as completing the cumulative classroom hours and conducting a final evaluation/exam). You do not have to abandon your unique lineage or teaching style to conform to a rigid, pre-written IYO® syllabus.
The registration process follows a simple three-phase "IYO Registration Ladder":Education: Students enrol in your registered IYS® school and complete the required training hours and coursework for their chosen level (e.g., the IYT (International Yoga Teacher) 200-hour program).Evaluation: Students must pass their school's final exam or assessment to prove competency. Or they can opt for an IYO examination. You need to pay the affiliation fees as given to you 🔗Link of affiliation fees: https://yogaiyo.org/iyo-international-yoga-organisation-certification-registryApplication & Listing: The student (or the school on their behalf) applies online, uploads the proof of completed training/credentials, pays the registration fee, and receives their official International Yoga Teacher (IYT®) certificate. Their name is then listed in the IYT Global Directory 🔗Link of IYT Form- https://www.yoga.yogaiyo-gov.org/iyt-international-yoga-teacher-form/
The official professional credentials—specifically the IYT® (International Yoga Teacher) certificate and the two included value-added premium certificates—are issued directly by IYO®. However, because you are an approved IYS® school, your students claim these global certifications through your institution upon completing your program, and you can still issue your own school-branded certificates alongside the official IYO® globally recognized certificates.
While school registration itself operates on its structure, individual student registrations require their own standard application fee when processing their credentials to become an officially listed IYT® (International Yoga Teacher). Additionally, please note that while standard certificates are fundamentally part of the pipeline, certain "Premium Certifications" launched by the board carry separate processing/claims structures.1) For student certifications list and fees: https://yogaiyo.org/iyo-international-yoga-organisation-certification-registry2) Exams are part of the certification that carries no fees.3) Yearly services: No yearly service; the certificates will be renewed for free after 5 years, as per the government clauses. And IYO® certification is for a lifetime with no renewal fees.
The baseline structural tiers must be strictly respected. You must organise your courses around fixed milestones: 100 hours, 200 hours, or 500 hours. To clear a module, an examination or final assessment is mandatory to prove student competency. As a lead trainer seeking to register a school, you are expected to hold a credential at least equivalent to the tier you wish to teach (such as master teacher registration of 500 hours).
Once your application is fully approved and your school is listed in the official IYS® International Yoga School Directory, you are authorised to use the IYT®/IYS® designations. IYO® logos and names are protected under strict trademark and copyright law, meaning unauthorised use is legally penalised—but active, approved, registered IYS® schools are encouraged to display their compliance and IYO® recognition Logos to address any verification questions from incoming students.
IYO® operates exclusively via online registry methods. Once approved as an International Yoga School (IYS®), your academy is granted access to the official online system. Because they explicitly state that they "do not consider processes that operate offline," all your teacher verification forms, student enrollment listings, and credential submissions are managed digitially through your online school profile and dedicated portal. Please go through one of the registered IYO-certified schools.https://www.iyoyoga.com/post/kayakalp-the-academy-of-yoga-1
To register a student for their official IYT® 200 credentials, you must provide:Full Name (exactly as it should appear on the certificate).Email Address (crucial for setting up their profile in the directory and sending soft copies).Proof of Completed Training Hours (typically an endorsement from you as the registered IYS® director/lead trainer confirming they met the 200-hour requirement).Exam/Assessment Results (confirmation that they achieved passing status).Note on Date of Birth: While sometimes requested for secure database identification, it is their verified attendance and passing status under your accredited umbrella that acts as the core document requirement.🔗Link of IYT Form-(Request the link from IYO Team).
Your internal exam is completely sufficient. IYO® requires that the student successfully pass a final evaluation/examination to prove competency, but they explicitly leave the execution of that exam up to the approved school. Your dual framework (a practical teaching exam + a theoretical knowledge exam) perfectly satisfies the IYO® Phase 1 requirement. The student does not need to sit for a separate, secondary exam written by IYO®.
The IYS® schools have to pay on behalf of the students. IYO® provides enrollment forms specifically tailored for "Certified School Students" to ensure a clean pipeline. As the IYS® director, you can batch-submit your graduating class's data and handle the registration/application fees en masse to ensure your students receive their global credentials smoothly as a package deal upon graduation.
The soft copies processing typically takes a 24 hours once a complete online application and payment are verified.
PDF Certificate by Email / Online Access /WhatsApp: Included dynamically. The primary delivery method is a high-resolution soft copy (digital certificate) sent directly via email and WhatsApp, accessible through their registry profile.Printed Certificate Option: Available. Obtaining a physical hard copy outside of India incurs international shipping costs depending on the school or teacher's location. Approximately, international shipping costs will be 3500/- INR extra.
Please go through one of the registered IYO-certified schools.https://www.iyoyoga.com/post/paramahamsa-yoga-mahavidyalaya-spm-trustYes. Getting listed in the world teacher database is the definitive final step (Phase 3) of the IYO® process. Once the student’s application is approved and their credential is authenticated, their profile is automatically pushed live to the public-facing IYT® Global Directory, allowing employers and clients worldwide to verify their status.
Just as teachers are expected to provide professional transparency, your approved academy will be prominently listed in the official IYS® International Yoga School Directory on the website, thereby officially declaring you an authorised IYT® course provider. All IYS School Directory-https://www.iyoyoga.com/iyo-directory
Step 1 (Internal Exam): You administer your internal practical class-teaching exam and theoretical knowledge test.Step 2: IYO Examination (Written, Viva and Practical)Step 3 (Data Collection): Once they pass, you compile the student's graduation profile data (Full Name, Email, and confirmation of their IYT200 hours and so on).Step 4 (Portal Submission & Payment): You log into the online registry portal 🔗Link of IYT Form- (Request the link from IYO Team)., select the official IYT® 200 student registration form, fill out the details, and submit the registration fee (paid by you on their behalf depending on how you structure your tuition fees).Step 5 (Issuance & Live Listing): The official IYT® soft copy certificate is generated and sent via email, and the student's professional profile automatically goes live in the Global Directory. If you require hard copies of the certificates, the details are provided above. Please refer to the above.
Applicants to any IYO® program must meet the following minimum criteria:
• Minimum age of 18 years (or 16 years with guardian consent)
• Basic literacy and comprehension in the language of instruction
• Physical readiness to participate in yoga practice (health declaration required)
• Genuine motivation to learn and, where applicable, teach yoga
• Ability to commit to the full program schedule, attendance requirements, and examinations
Formal educational qualifications are not a mandatory requirement for admission to the IYT® 200-Hour program. IYO® recognizes that yoga is a practice-based discipline and that readiness to learn is not determined by academic credentials alone.
IYO® offers two admission pathways:
Pathway A — Standard (with formal qualifications): Applicants who hold formal educational qualifications follow the standard admission process. Qualifications are recorded for reference but do not affect the assessment standard.
Pathway B — Alternative Entry (without formal qualifications): This pathway and its examinations are only for applicants who do not hold formal educational qualifications. Applicants who hold formal qualifications must use the Standard Pathway (Pathway A) and do not take these examinations. Admission through the Alternative Entry Pathway is based on:
1. Completion of the Alternative Entry Application & Registration Form
2. Introduction & Motivation Examination (15–20 minutes, interview)
3. Comprehension Examination (15 minutes, listening and reading)
4. Literacy Examination (15 minutes, written)
A single overall grade is awarded for these three examinations. The pass threshold is 60% in each examination. Applicants must pass all three to be admitted.
Admission decisions fall into four categories:
• Admit — The applicant has passed all entry examinations and meets all eligibility criteria.
• Admit with Support — The applicant is admitted but requires additional support (e.g., assignment guidance, language support, a mentor). The assessment standard remains the same.
• Recommend Foundation Course First — The applicant is not yet ready for the 200-hour program and is advised to complete a foundation yoga course before reapplying.
• Decline — The applicant does not meet the readiness standard for the current cohort.
IYO® reserves the right to make final admission decisions. All decisions are communicated in writing via email or SMS.
Applicants must provide accurate, truthful, and complete information in all application forms, health declarations, and supporting documents. Providing false or misleading information may result in immediate cancellation of the application, enrollment, or certification, without refund.
The IYT® International Yoga Teacher Training is certification program covering:
• Yoga Philosophy & Theory
• Asana Practice & Teaching
• Anatomy, Safety & Contraindications
• Pranayama & Meditation
• Kriyas

• Self-study & Assignments
The program is delivered through IYO® Certified Schools in Online, In-person, or Hybrid modes.
Program duration, schedule, and session frequency vary by cohort and school. Specific details are provided at the time of enrollment and are subject to change with reasonable notice.
IYO® reserves the right to update, modify, or revise the curriculum, course content, and program structure at any time to maintain educational standards. Students will be notified of any significant changes.
Students must attend a minimum of 90% of scheduled sessions to be eligible for certification. Attendance is tracked for every session and recorded in the student’s file.
Excused absences are granted for medical reasons or genuine emergencies, subject to approval by the school. Excused absences must be made up within the deadline specified by the school. Unexcused absences do not count toward the attendance requirement.
Students who fail to meet the attendance requirement will not be eligible to receive the Proof of Training (certificate) until the requirement is met through make-up sessions or re-enrollment.
Attendance records are maintained by the school and are the official evidence of participation. Students may request a copy of their attendance record at any time.
The following entry examinations apply only to applicants admitted through the Alternative Entry Pathway (Pathway B) — that is, applicants who do not hold formal educational qualifications. Applicants with formal qualifications (Pathway A) are not required to take these examinations.
1. IYT® Introduction & Motivation Examination — Assesses motivation, commitment, and understanding of the program.
2. IYT® Literacy Examination — Assesses reading and writing ability sufficient for course participation.
3. IYT® Viva Comprehension Examination — Assesses ability to understand spoken and written instructions.
Each examination is scored, and a single overall grade is awarded. The pass threshold is 60% in each examination. Applicants must pass all three to be admitted.
During the IIYT®-International Yoga Teacher, program, students are assessed through:
• Written examination (theory, philosophy, anatomy)
• Practical examination (asana demonstration and alignment)
• Teaching demonstration (class planning, sequencing, delivery)
• Assignment submissions
Each competency area is scored. The passing standard requires a minimum score in each area and an overall average as defined by the program standard. The assessment standard is the same for all students regardless of admission pathway.
Assessment results fall into four categories:
• Pass — All requirements met; eligible for certificate issuance.
• Conditional Pass — Minor resubmission required.
• Resubmission Required — One or more components must be re-attempted.
• Fail — Requirements not met; re-enrollment recommended.
Students must complete all examinations honestly and independently (unless group work is specified). Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or misrepresentation will result in disqualification from the examination and may lead to cancellation of enrollment or certification, without refund.
Students who do not pass an examination may be permitted one re-examination opportunity, subject to the school’s policy and any applicable re-examination. Details are provided at the time of result declaration.
Upon successful completion of all program requirements — including attendance, assignments, and examinations — the student is issued a Proof of Training (certificate) confirming completion of the IYT®-International Yoga Teacher, program.
All certificates issued by IYO® can be verified through the official verification portal using the certificate number. Third parties (employers, institutions) may verify the authenticity of a certificate at any time.
IYO® certifications are recognized in 195 countries worldwide. The certificate does not expire; however, IYO® encourages certified teachers to maintain ongoing practice and continuing education.

The requirements move beyond a simple checklist to reveal the underlying business model of the organization.
Clause 1: Physical Infrastructure and Equipment. To conduct offline IYO-approved courses and issue certifications, a yoga school must possess a physical location or studio. This location is required to be equipped with essential facilities, including drinking water, and specific yoga apparel and gear, such as T-shirts, yoga dresses, mats, props, and ropes. For specialized courses like IYT® Aerial Yoga, the school must have "proper hammocks". This is a standard and necessary requirement for any physical yoga business, ensuring a baseline level of safety, professionalism, and readiness to conduct in-person training. The explicit inclusion of specialized equipment demonstrates IYO's intention to cater to and credential modern, niche yoga practices.
Clause 2: Teacher Roster. Applicants are required to "appoint the Yoga Teachers" and list their names on the provided form. The application specifies a maximum limit of three teachers [Enter in the form]. This constraint is a unique and defining aspect of IYO's model. The limitation to a maximum of three listed teachers per school suggests that the IYS® designation may be strategically targeted at smaller, new, or boutique studios rather than large-scale, multi-instructor academies. This approach aligns with the organization's business model, as further detailed in its terms and conditions.
Clause 3: Legal & Business Documentation. The application requires legal and business documentation to verify the school's existence. For Indian citizens, this includes an MSME certificate, a Shop license, a Gummasta Copy, or a Corporation certificate. For foreign citizens, "any Govt copies as per the country knobs" are acceptable [Enter in the form]. This is a fundamental and crucial step in any legitimate business affiliation process, serving as a vital safeguard by ensuring the applicant is a legally recognized business entity with the authority to operate.
Clauses 4 and 5: Alternative Documentation. The process offers a crucial and notable degree of flexibility for applicants who may not have the formal business documentation required in Clause 3. In such cases, a prospective school can provide "previous Yoga certificates" [Enter in the form] or even a "citizenship ID card" [Enter in the form]. While this offers accessibility to individuals who may not have formally established a business, it also suggests a lower barrier to entry and a less rigorous verification process compared to a model that strictly requires formal business registration. The reliance on personal documents may not provide the same level of assurance as a legally registered business entity.
Clauses 6, 7, and 8: Visual & Marketing Evidence. The final set of requirements focuses on the school's public-facing presence and brand. Applicants must attach "school pictures for offline" classes, or online class pictures if applicable [Enter in the form]. They must also submit their school logo and "marketing templates which has been used" [Enter in the form]. These clauses serve a dual purpose: they verify the school's physical or online presence and collect materials for IYO's own directory and promotional efforts. This is supported by IYO's terms, which explicitly state that "Failure to promote IYO® using logos in marketing results in termination" of the affiliation. This requirement creates a symbiotic relationship where the school becomes a promotional partner for IYO, and in return, IYO promotes the school.
