The Details of Yoga School Owner:
Shri Thorat is widely recognized for his extensive expertise in teaching advanced asanas, a skill that has been honed through over 12 years of dedicated practice in the field of yoga. His journey into the world of yoga began with a series of short courses, which served as an introduction to the various aspects and nuances of this ancient discipline. However, it was his formal education that truly laid the groundwork for his deep understanding of traditional yoga. He achieved this by obtaining a diploma from Yoga Vidya Niketan, a prestigious institution known for its rigorous curriculum and commitment to preserving the authentic practices of yoga. This educational experience provided him with a solid foundation, enabling him to explore the depths of yoga's philosophy and its physical practices.
To further deepen his practice and understanding of yoga, Shri Thorat embarked on a transformative journey to Mysore, which is renowned as the birthplace of Ashtanga Yoga. It was there that he completed his first 200-hour Teacher Training Course in Ashtanga Vinyasa, a rigorous program that not only refined his physical abilities but also enriched his theoretical knowledge of this dynamic style of yoga. This immersive experience in Mysore allowed him to connect with esteemed teachers and practitioners, further inspiring his commitment to the art and science of yoga.
In 2019, Shri Thorat took a significant step in his academic and practical journey by completing a Bachelor’s degree in Yoga from Somaiya College. This degree not only enhanced his credentials but also provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the various dimensions of yoga, including its historical context, philosophical underpinnings, and physiological effects. The combination of his formal education and practical training has equipped him with a well-rounded perspective on yoga, allowing him to teach with authority and passion.
As an advanced-level practitioner, Shri Thorat has mastered multiple disciplines within yoga and holistic fitness, showcasing a diverse skill set that encompasses a wide array of practices. His areas of expertise include advanced asanas, which require a high level of physical strength and flexibility, as well as aerial yoga, where he incorporates the use of suspended fabrics to enhance traditional postures. Additionally, he is skilled in the use of props, which can aid practitioners in achieving proper alignment and deeper stretches. His knowledge extends to meditation techniques, pranayama (breath control), mantra chanting, yogic philosophy, and anatomy, all of which are essential components of a holistic yoga practice. Moreover, he incorporates traditional strength training methods such as Mudgar training, which emphasizes functional strength and physical conditioning.
With a unique blend of traditional wisdom and modern techniques, Shri Thorat is committed to helping both students and fellow teachers unlock their highest physical and mental potential. His teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a supportive and encouraging environment where individuals can explore their limits, cultivate self-awareness, and develop a deeper connection to their practice. Through personalized guidance and tailored instruction, he empowers his students to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery and transformation, making yoga not just a practice, but a way of life.
