Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a more detailed version of your text:

"The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section regarding the IYO® International Yoga Organisation provides valuable insights and information for individuals &  interested in learning more about our IYO programs, philosophy, and services. This section addresses common inquiries related to our IYO registrations, training courses, membership benefits, and the principles that guide our mission to promote yoga globally."

Does IYO® review the content and structure of the existing yoga teacher training program before approving the school registration?

No, IYO® has a legal-compliance-based registration process. IYO® acts primarily as an independent registration and certification body that standardises certification levels (such as IYT International Yoga Teacher 100hrs, 200hrs, 500hrs, and 80+ Yoga certification courses) rather than conducting an extensive pre-approval audit of your specific daily training content.

2

Do I need to submit my curriculum, course materials, teaching hours, or any other documents for evaluation?

No extensive evaluation of course materials or day-to-day curriculum maps is required to get registered. The primary documentation required by IYO® focuses on the students' end during Phase 2 (verifying their completed hours and passing their assessments to issue their IYT® credentials) rather than requiring the school to submit proprietary textbooks or lesson plans for an academic review.

3

Is it possible for the training program to remain entirely in regional language, or are English materials/exams required?

Your training program, materials, and internal school exams can remain entirely in Regional language. IYO® operates globally across 195 countries and respects local training structures. The only part that needs to align with IYO® is matching the required training-hour designations (e.g., an IYT-International Yoga Teacher 200-hour program) so that the correct tier of international certification can be requested and issued.

4

Would my current curriculum need to follow the IYO® syllabus, or can I continue teaching my own program under the IYS® recognition?

You can absolutely continue teaching your own program. Your school receives IYS® recognition by committing to standard professional training blocks (such as completing the cumulative classroom hours and conducting a final evaluation/exam). You do not have to abandon your unique lineage or teaching style to conform to a rigid, pre-written IYO® syllabus.

5

What exactly is the certification process for my students after becoming an IYS® registered school?

The registration process follows a simple three-phase "IYO Registration Ladder":

Education: Students enrol in your registered IYS® school and complete the required training hours and coursework for their chosen level (e.g., the IYT (International Yoga Teacher) 200-hour program).

Evaluation: Students must pass their school's final exam or assessment to prove competency. Or they can opt for an IYO examination. You need to pay the affiliation fees as given to you (Request the link from IYO Team).

Application & Listing: The student (or the school on their behalf) applies online, uploads the proof of completed training/credentials, pays the registration fee, and receives their official International Yoga Teacher (IYT®) certificate. Their name is then listed in the IYT Global Directory (Request the link from IYO Team).

6

Are the certificates issued directly by IYO®, or can I issue certificates under my own school name with IYO® recognition?

The official professional credentials—specifically the IYT® (International Yoga Teacher) certificate and the two included value-added premium certificates—are issued directly by IYO®. However, because you are an approved IYS® school, your students claim these global certifications through your institution upon completing your program, and you can still issue your own school-branded certificates alongside the official IYO® globally recognized certificates.

7

Are there any additional fees for student certifications, exams, or yearly services after the one-time registration fee?

Yes. While school registration itself operates on its structure, individual student registrations require their own standard application fee when processing their credentials to become an officially listed IYT® (International Yoga Teacher). Additionally, please note that while standard certificates are fundamentally part of the pipeline, certain "Premium Certifications" launched by the board carry separate processing/claims structures.
1) For student certifications list and fees: (Request the link from IYO Team).
2) Exams are part of the certification that carries no fees.
3) Yearly services: No yearly service; the certificates will be renewed for free after 5 years, as per the government clauses. And IYO® certification is for a lifetime with no renewal fees.

8

Are there minimum requirements regarding teaching hours, modules, exams, or my personal qualifications as a yoga teacher?

Yes, the baseline structural tiers must be strictly respected. You must organise your courses around fixed milestones: 100 hours, 200 hours, or 500 hours. To clear a module, an examination or final assessment is mandatory to prove student competency. As a lead trainer seeking to register a school, you are expected to hold a credential at least equivalent to the tier you wish to teach (such as master teacher registration of 500 hours).

9

Am I allowed to use the IYO® / IYS® logo and name in my website and promotional materials after approval?

Yes. Once your application is fully approved and your school is listed in the official IYS® International Yoga School Directory, you are authorised to use the IYT®/IYS® designations. IYO® logos and names are protected under strict trademark and copyright law, meaning unauthorised use is legally penalised—but active, approved, registered IYS® schools are encouraged to display their compliance and IYO® recognition Logos to address any verification questions from incoming students.

10

After my IYS® registration is approved, will I have a personal account, dashboard, or direct contact person through whom I can submit student certification requests?

Yes. IYO® operates exclusively via online registry methods. Once approved as an International Yoga School (IYS®), your academy is granted access to the official online system. Because they explicitly state that they "do not consider processes that operate offline," all your teacher verification forms, student enrollment listings, and credential submissions are managed digitially through your online school profile and dedicated portal.

Please go through one of the registered IYO-certified schools.

11

For each student who completes my 200-hour program, what information or documents do I need to provide to IYO®?

To register a student for their official IYT® 200 credentials, you must provide:
Full Name (exactly as it should appear on the certificate).
Email Address (crucial for setting up their profile in the directory and sending soft copies).
Proof of Completed Training Hours (typically an endorsement from you as the registered IYS® director/lead trainer confirming they met the 200-hour requirement).
Exam/Assessment Results (confirmation that they achieved passing status).
Note on Date of Birth: While sometimes requested for secure database identification, it is their verified attendance and passing status under your accredited umbrella that acts as the core document requirement.

12

Is this type of internal school assessment sufficient for IYT® certification, or does the student also need to complete an additional IYO® examination?

Your internal exam is completely sufficient. IYO® requires that the student successfully pass a final evaluation/examination to prove competency, but they explicitly leave the execution of that exam up to the approved school. Your dual framework (a practical teaching exam + a theoretical knowledge exam) perfectly satisfies the IYO® Phase 1 requirement. The student does not need to sit for a separate, secondary exam written by IYO®.

13

Can the school pay the certification fee on behalf of the student and submit the request, or must each student personally register and pay?

The IYS® schools have to pay on behalf of the students. IYO® provides enrollment forms specifically tailored for "Certified School Students" to ensure a clean pipeline. As the IYS® director, you can batch-submit your graduating class's data and handle the registration/application fees en masse to ensure your students receive their global credentials smoothly as a package deal upon graduation.

14

After submitting the student information and payment, what is the usual processing time for receiving the official IYT® certificate?

The soft copies processing typically takes a 24 hours once a complete online application and payment are verified.

15

How are certificates delivered?

PDF Certificate by Email / Online Access /WhatsApp: Included dynamically. The primary delivery method is a high-resolution soft copy (digital certificate) sent directly via email and WhatsApp, accessible through their registry profile.
Printed Certificate Option: Available. Obtaining a physical hard copy outside of India incurs international shipping costs depending on the school or teacher's location. Approximately, international shipping costs will be 3500/- INR extra.

16

Will the student automatically appear in the IYT® Global Directory after certification?

Please go through one of the registered IYO-certified schools.
https://www.iyoyoga.com/post/paramahamsa-yoga-mahavidyalaya-spm-trust

Once the student’s application is approved and their credential is authenticated, their profile is automatically pushed live to the public-facing IYT® Global Directory, allowing employers and clients worldwide to verify their status.

17

As an approved IYS® school, will my school name and profile appear in the official IYS® directory?

18

Could you please confirm the exact steps I should follow from the moment a student finishes my course until the moment they receive their IYT® certificate?

Step 2 IYO Examination (Written, Viva and Practical)
Step 3 (Data Collection): Once they pass, you compile the student's graduation profile data (Full Name, Email, and confirmation of their IYT200 hours and so on).

IYT® - International Yoga Teacher Directory

Link: https://iyt-international-yoga-teachers-directory.site/public/iyt-directory/cmqxika4p0000s7ddxbujc6oc

How verification works

  1. Locate the IYT registration number on your certificate—for example, an entry formatted like IYT4075.

  2. Visit the IYO Registry Directory on the official IYO websitehttps://iyt-international-yoga-teachers-directory.site/public/iyt-directory/cmqxika4p0000s7ddxbujc6oc

  3. Search the directory pages or website search using your IYT number or your full name.

  4. Check that the displayed entry matches your:

    • Full name

    • IYT certification title and training hours

    • Associated IYS® International Yoga School

    • IYT registration number.

Why it is useful

Online verification allows yoga studios, employers, students, and other organisations to confirm that the certificate information corresponds with the IYO registry. IYO’s directory pages Link: https://iyt-international-yoga-teachers-directory.site/public/iyt-directory/cmqxika4p0000s7ddxbujc6oc explicitly state that users can verify certificate information using the IYO or IYT registration number shown on the certificate.

If your record is missing

A record may not be visible immediately if your certificate has only recently been issued or the directory update is pending. First confirm that you are using the exact registration number and name shown on the certificate. If it still does not appear, contact the IYO-certified school that submitted your application or IYO directly and provide your IYT number, full name, course title, school name, and certificate issue date.

28

What should I do if my IYT number is missing from the directory?

If your IYT® registration number is not visible in the IYO directory, Link: https://iyt-international-yoga-teachers-directory.site/public/iyt-directory/cmqxika4p0000s7ddxbujc6oc first allow the normal processing window, then ask your IYO-certified school to confirm that your registration was submitted, paid, and approved. Once authenticated, IYO states that the teacher profile should be added to the public IYT Global Directory. Link: https://iyt-international-yoga-teachers-directory.site/public/iyt-directory/cmqxika4p0000s7ddxbujc6oc

Check first

Before reporting it as missing, verify:

  • You are searching for the exact IYT number printed on your certificate, including the IYT prefix.

  • Your full name has the same spelling as on the certificate.

  • Your certificate was issued only after the application and fee were successfully processed.

  • At least 24 hours have passed since IYO verified the complete application and payment; that is IYO’s stated usual soft-copy processing time.

Contact your school

Your IYS® International Yoga School is normally the main point of contact because it submits graduate records and pays the student-registration fee on the student’s behalf. Ask the school to check:

  • Whether your registration form was submitted through the official online portal.

  • Whether it included your correct full name, email address, completed training-hour confirmation, and passed assessment result.

  • Whether the IYT registration fee was paid and received.

  • Whether IYO issued an approval, requested corrections, or has not yet activated the directory listing.

Contact IYO

If the school confirms successful submission but the listing is still absent, contact IYO through its stated online contact channel at yoga@iyoworld.com. Provide all information in one message to make verification easier:

  • Your full name exactly as shown on the certificate.

  • IYT registration number.

  • Certification title and hours, such as IYT® International Yoga Teacher 200 Hours.

  • Certificate issue date.

  • Name and IYS® registration number of your training school.

  • A clear copy of your certificate.

  • The email address used for registration.

  • A screenshot showing that the number or name cannot be found in the directory.

Important possibility

If a certified school does not pay outstanding student registration/affiliation fees after certificate generation and notice, IYO’s published terms say it may remove affected students’ names from the IYO database and public directory, and send termination information to both the school and students. If that may apply, request written confirmation from IYO of your current registration status and ask what payment or documentation, if any, is required to restore the record.

29

How long does the IYO directory take to update

Digital-certificate processing typically takes about 24 hours after a complete application and payment are verified, and that the teacher’s profile is added to the directory after the registration is approved and authenticated.

Practical expectation

In most cases, allow:

  • At least 24 hours after complete verification and payment.

  • A few working days if the school must first submit graduate records, if the certificate was only recently issued, or if there is any name, email, training-hour, or payment correction.

  • More time if an IYS® school’s registration/fee status is under review, because IYO’s terms state that directory entries can be affected by unresolved school-related registration obligations.

If it is still missing

If your record is not listed after about 3–5 working days, contact your IYO-certified school first and ask it to confirm the application was submitted, approved, and directory publication was requested. If the school confirms all of that, contact IYO with your IYT number, full name, certificate copy, course title/hours, school name, issue date, and a screenshot of the missing search result. IYO’s directory is intended to allow verification using the IYT registration number printed on the certificate.

30

How to verify an IYT registration number in the directory?

To verify an IYT® International Yoga Teacher registration number, use the IYO Registry Directory and search for the exact number shown on the certificate—for example, IYT3205. School name, Correct legal or registered name

Address, Same operating/registered location, allowing for a documented address update

School owner/directorSame person or authorised leadership stated by the school

IYO status, The listing says the school is recognised or registered as an IYS® International Yoga School

Courses, Check whether the school is offering programmes consistent with its stated affiliation

For example, IYO’s listing for Hatha Yoga Institute identifies the registration number as IYS1102, alongside its Pune address and school owner; other listings use the same format.

If you cannot find it

  • Search the exact number, then search the full school name without abbreviations.

  • Check whether a newer, former, or alternate spelling is used by the school.

  • Ask the school to send its IYO affiliation certificate and to confirm the IYS number in writing.

  • Contact IYO with the claimed IYS number, school name, city/country, director’s name, and a certificate copy or screenshot.

A school’s claim of affiliation should be treated as verified only when the IYO listing’s registration number and core identity details match the school’s own documents.

What specific actions trigger IYS affiliation termination?

According to IYO’s Terms and Conditions, an IYS® International Yoga School affiliation may be terminated for inactivity, failure to meet stated registration and promotional expectations, use of competing certification routes, non-payment, misuse of IYO branding, false information, or other breaches of the agreement. IYO’s terms also reserve broad discretion to terminate where it states there is “doubt or distrust,” without a refund.

Operational triggers

The published terms identify the following school activities or omissions as potential triggers:

Trigger, What it means in practice

Six months of inactivity, No affiliation-related or TTC-registration activity for six consecutive months

Fewer than two IYT registrations per month, The school does not meet IYO’s stated minimum monthly IYT teacher-registration expectation

No IYO promotion, The school does not promote IYO through its authorised logos in marketing or promotional material

Other registration platformsThe school conducts TTC registration through platforms other than IYO’s stated process

Association with competing bodiesThe school joins, affiliates with, or associates with other certification bodies in a way IYO treats as competing affiliation

Payment-related trigger

Non-payment of student-related IYO fees can lead to serious action. The terms state that where a school has not paid fees within 30 days of the registration process, following certificate generation and reminders, IYO may terminate the affected students’ certifications, remove their profiles from the IYO database and directory, cancel the school’s visibility in IYO channels, and block future registrations until the outstanding amount is paid.

Compliance and conduct triggers

Termination can also follow where the school:

  • Breaches any provision of IYO’s terms, policies, or affiliation rules.

  • Gives incorrect, misleading, incomplete, or fraudulent registration information.

  • Misuses the IYO®, IYS®, or IYT® name, logo, certificates, intellectual property, contact details, or promotional materials.

  • Places the IYT logo on school-issued student certificates or other certification documents, which IYO’s terms prohibit.

  • Uses IYO branding or information for unauthorised books, personal banking, or financial transactions.

  • Engages in unlawful activity or conduct IYO considers harmful to its reputation or operations.

Discretionary termination

The terms include a wide clause allowing termination without refund where IYO considers there to be “doubt or distrust” toward the organisation. Because this is broad rather than objectively defined, a school should request written clarification on:

  • The evidence or threshold used before termination.

  • Whether written notice and an opportunity to correct the issue are given.

  • Whether there is an appeal or review process.

  • How current students’ registrations and certificates are protected.

  • How any unused or paid fees are treated.

How to reduce risk

Maintain a monthly compliance record: IYT registrations, payments and receipts, approved logo use, active-course evidence, student lists, and written communication with IYO. Before affiliating or renewing any arrangement, obtain the current signed agreement and verify that the clauses, amounts, deadlines, and student-protection process match the version you were given.

What happens to student certificates after IYS termination

If an IYS® school’s affiliation is terminated, the effect on student certificates depends on the reason and timing of termination. IYO’s published terms explicitly say that when termination follows unpaid student-related fees, it can cancel affected IYT® certifications and permanently remove students from the IYO database and public directories.[

When certificates are cancelled

A specific non-payment process: if an IYS does not pay outstanding IYT student affiliation/registration fees within 30 days of the registration process, after certificates have been generated and reminders have been sent, IYO says it may take the following actions:

  • Contact affected IYT students directly to notify them that their certification is terminated.

  • Permanently remove the student’s record from the IYO database and public IYT directory.

  • Delete the student from the relevant IYS school-directory page.

  • Send an official cancellation email to both the student and the school.

  • Block the school from submitting future student registrations until all dues are paid and settled.

In this situation, having a PDF or printed certificate does not necessarily preserve its active IYO-verifiable status if the registration record is cancelled or removed.

When the policy is unclear

For other reasons an IYS might be terminated—such as six months of inactivity, failure to meet IYO’s monthly registration expectation, use of other TTC-registration platforms, association with competing bodies, branding misuse, or broader policy violations—the terms state that the school affiliation may be terminated, but do not clearly set out, in the published termination section, whether every previously issued and fully paid student IYT registration remains active.

That distinction is important:

Situation, What the published terms clearly say

Student fees unpaid by the school, Student certifications may be terminated; records may be permanently removed from the database and directories

School-affiliation termination for a non-payment issue, School is restricted until dues are settled; affected students may receive termination notifications

School-affiliation termination for other policy breaches, School can lose affiliation; the specific status of already issued, fully paid student certificates is not clearly stated in the published policy

What students should do

If your school’s IYS affiliation has been terminated or you are concerned it may be:

  1. Save your evidence: Keep your IYT certificate, training attendance record, assessment result, fee receipt, school communications, and IYT registration number.

  2. Verify your record online: Search the IYT Global Directory using your exact IYT number and check that your name, course title, hours, and school match.

  3. Request written status confirmation: Ask IYO whether your individual IYT registration remains active, suspended, or terminated, rather than relying only on the school’s explanation.

  4. Ask who owes what: Establish whether your student registration was fully paid to IYO and whether the issue relates to the school’s affiliation fee, student fees, or another compliance matter.

  5. Ask about remedy: If your record was removed, request the written procedure, documents, responsible payer, total dues, and timeline for reinstatement—if reinstatement is available.

  6. Use precise contact information: IYO’s terms direct schools to use yoga@iyoworld.com for dissolution-related communication; include your full name, IYT number, certificate copy, course and completion date, IYS name/number, and payment proof in a status request.

Can terminated IYT certifications be restored or appealed?

IYO’s publicly available Terms and Conditions do not describe a formal appeal process or a guaranteed restoration pathway for an IYT® certification that has been terminated. However, the terms make clear that the school can regain access to future registrations after all outstanding dues are fully paid and settled; they do not expressly state that this automatically reinstates previously terminated student certificates.

What the published terms say

The clearest termination scenario concerns an IYS® school that does not pay student-related IYT registration/affiliation fees within 30 days after registration processing and reminders. IYO says it may notify students, terminate their certifications, and permanently remove their records from the IYO database, IYT directory, and school directory page.

For that situation, the terms say:

  • The non-compliant school is blocked from making future registrations until outstanding dues are cleared.

  • It does not state that payment automatically restores each student’s prior IYT credential or directory listing.

  • It does not publish an appeal form, review panel, appeal deadline, or reinstatement fee schedule for a terminated student certificate.[reddit]

What to do

A terminated teacher—or the relevant IYS school—should request a written case review from IYO rather than assume reinstatement is automatic.

  1. Ask for exact status. Request confirmation of whether the individual IYT registration is active, suspended, terminated, or eligible for restoration.

  2. Request the reason and clause. Ask IYO to identify the applicable termination ground, decision date, outstanding amount, and whether it relates to your own records, the school’s dues, or another compliance issue.

  3. Submit supporting evidence. Include your IYT registration number, certificate copy, course-completion/assessment proof, fee receipt if you have one, IYS name and registration number, and relevant correspondence.

  4. Ask for a remedy in writing. Specifically ask whether the record can be reinstated, what payment or correction is required, who is responsible for payment, whether a new application is needed, and what timeline applies.

  5. Confirm directory restoration. If IYO agrees to reinstate the credential, ask for written confirmation that the IYT database and public directory entry will be restored, including the expected update date.

IYO’s contact page lists yoga@iyoworld.com for online communication.

Subject: Request for review and possible restoration of IYT registration — [IYT number]

Dear IYO Support Team,

I request written confirmation of the current status of my IYT® registration, [IYT number], issued in the name of [full name] for [course title and hours] through [IYS school name and IYS number].

I understand that my certification/directory record may have been terminated or removed. Please provide the specific reason, applicable policy clause, effective date, and whether the matter relates to unpaid school fees, documentation, or another issue.

Please also confirm whether restoration or review is available, the exact documents and fees required, the responsible party for any outstanding payment, and the expected timeline for restoring my IYT certificate and directory listing, if approved.

Attached are my certificate, training-completion evidence, assessment result, payment proof, and relevant correspondence.

Sincerely,
[Full name]
[Registered email and phone number]
[IYT number]

Important limitation

Because the policy uses terms such as “permanently removed” and gives IYO broad termination discretion, restoration cannot be assumed. Get IYO’s response in writing before making claims about an active credential, accepting teaching work that requires verification, or paying any purported reinstatement charge.

What official contact channels does IYO provide for disputes?

IYO’s official published channels for disputes, registration concerns, termination questions, or certificate-directory issues are primarily online: email, the website contact form/registration system, WhatsApp/direct messages to the registered number, and support through its official social-media channels. IYO says it does not process school or instructor affiliation matters offline.

Main contact channels

Channel, Officially stated use

Email: yoga@iyoworld.com, The clearest written channel for disputes, dissolution requests, certificate problems, fee issues, and formal status requests. IYO specifically directs IYS schools to this email for dissolution confirmation.

IYO website contact form, Use the online contact method for registration and support enquiries. IYO says registrations and affiliations are handled online only.

Phone / IYO Support Team: +91 9067238170, The terms state that IYO do not interact with any students directly, they need to contact or connect with an IYO-certified IYS school; it is also a practical channel for asking where to submit a formal dispute.

WhatsApp, IYO’s terms describe support and communications through WhatsApp. It says communications are personalised to registered numbers rather than managed through WhatsApp groups.

Official social media, IYO lists social-media communication as a support channel, alongside website, WhatsApp, and email. For disputes, use it only to request the correct support route—not as the only evidence of a complaint.

Best channel for a dispute

For anything that affects a certificate, directory listing, fee, termination, name correction, or school affiliation, use email first so you create a dated written record. In the same message, you can ask for an acknowledgement and a case/reference number.

Include:

  • Your full name and registered email/phone.

  • IYT® or IYS® registration number.

  • Course title and certificate issue date, if relevant.

  • School name and IYS number, if the dispute concerns a school.

  • A short factual description of the problem and the outcome requested.

  • Copies of certificates, payment receipts, email/WhatsApp messages, screenshots, and directory-search results.

  • A reasonable response deadline, such as seven working days.

Suggested subject line

Formal request for review — IYT [number] / IYS [number] — [brief issue]

What is IYS fees method and structure?

IYO’s published structure is an advance-payment, school-managed model: an IYS® school pays its affiliation fee to join the registry, then normally submits and pays IYT® student registration fees on behalf of graduating students through the online system. The public terms list ₹15,000 for IYS affiliation and ₹2,500 per IYT student registration, while also saying schools should request the current fee list because programme and premium-certificate charges can vary.

Fee structure

Fee or service, Published structure

IYS® school affiliation₹15,000 stated as the standard/lifetime affiliation fee

IYT® student registration,₹2,500 per student, paid by the IYS school on the student’s behalf

Exams,No separate exam fee is stated; an internal final assessment is accepted under the IYO process

Yearly school service,No yearly service fee is stated

IYT renewal after five years, Digital soft copy stated as free; physical copy ₹650

Lost digital certificate after one year ₹400 for reprocessing

Student certificate name correction/reissue₹1,500 in advance, with updated Aadhaar and PAN documentation

IYS school-name change₹2,500 re-registration fee stated

Logo change, Free; logo change with premium certification ₹800

International physical-certificate deliveryExtra courier charge; IYO pages cite ₹2,500 or approximately ₹3,500 depending on location, so obtain a written current quote

Payment method

IYO states that registrations are handled online, not offline. Once approved, an IYS school uses its online school profile or portal to submit student details and the relevant registration payment. The school can batch-submit graduating students and pay their IYT registration fees together, depending on how it structures course tuition.

The practical flow is:

  1. The school receives student course fees, either including or excluding the IYT registration charge.

  2. The student completes the required course hours and passes the school’s final assessment.

  3. The school collects student details: full name, email, training-hour confirmation, and passed assessment result.

  4. The school submits the information online and makes the advance registration payment.

  5. IYO verifies the complete submission; it states digital certificate processing typically takes about 24 hours after verified application and payment

Deadlines and controls

The terms contain strict payment timings:

  • IYT student forms without payment within 24 hours may be cancelled.

  • A new IYS application submitted without the affiliation fee within 48 hours may result in a one-year bar on applying for IYS registration.

  • If an IYS fails to pay student-related fees within 30 days after registration processing, certificate generation, and reminders, IYO says it may remove student records, terminate affected IYT registrations, and block future submissions from the school until dues are settled.

Best practice for schools

To avoid disputes, keep a per-student payment and registration ledger containing:

Record, Why it matters

Student’s full legal name and email, Must match certificate and directory data

Course title, level, hours, completion dateSupports eligibility and registration category

Assessment outcome, Confirms the student passed

Amount collected from student, Shows whether the IYT fee was included or separate

Amount paid to IYO, Confirms the school remitted the registration fee

Payment date and transaction reference, Essential proof if a record is delayed or disputed

IYT number, certificate issue date, directory status, Confirms end-to-end completion

Give each student a written fee breakdown before enrolment. State clearly whether course tuition includes IYO registration, the cost of optional printed certificates and courier, refund conditions, and when the school will submit the student’s IYT application. This is especially important because the school is the usual paying and submitting party, but the student’s IYT directory status can be affected if the school’s payment obligations remain unresolved.

What is the IYS®-International Yoga School Fees?

The IYS® International Yoga School affiliation fee is ₹15,000 INR, described by IYO as a one-time/lifetime affiliation fee. IYO also notes that an affiliated school pays separate registration fees for each student seeking an IYT® credential, so the school fee and student-certification fees are distinct.

IYS school fees

Fee item, Published amount / rule

New IYS® affiliation, ₹15,000 INR

IYS school-name change / re-registration, ₹2,500 INR

Website-logo change only, Free

Logo change plus premium certification, ₹800 INR

Yearly school service / renewal, No yearly service fee stated

IYT student registration, Separate per-student fee; IYO’s terms list ₹2,500 INR per student, while the FAQ directs schools to request the current certification fee list

Examination, No separate examination fee.

International hard-copy certificate courier, Extra, country-dependent; IYO pages reference ₹2,500 in one delivery clause and approximately ₹3,500 elsewhere, so obtain a current written quote.

How payment works

IYO registrations operate online only. A school submits its IYS registration online and pays the affiliation fee in advance. Once approved, the school receives access to the online system/profile for submitting IYT student records and related registration payments.

For IYT student certification, the IYS school normally:

  1. Trains the student for the selected programme and verifies the required hours.

  2. Conducts or records the required final assessment.

  3. Collects the student’s full name, email, training confirmation, and assessment result.

  4. Submits the student’s application through the online system.

  5. Pays the relevant student-registration fee on the student’s behalf—either separately or from the course fee already collected.

Important deadlines

  • A new IYS application not paid within 48 hours may result in a one-year restriction on applying again, according to IYO’s published terms.

  • A student-registration form without payment within 24 hours may be cancelled.

  • IYO states that student-related fees must be paid in advance. If an IYS fails to settle such fees within 30 days after certification processing and reminders, it may trigger removal of affected student records and restrictions on future registrations by the school.

IYS®-International Yoga School registration affiliation fees is ₹15,000 includes the digital and physical IYS certificates, directory listing, logo authorisation, portal access, and any premium-certification component. Also request written confirmation of the IYT student-registration fee applicable to each course level, certain premium certifications may carry separate processing or claims structures.
